Dr. Sigalit Hoffman, MD(she/her)
Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Hoffman was born in Canada, attended medical school in Israel, and completed her residency and fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Since 2017, she has been in private practice, where she provides psychotherapy and medication management for college students, young adults, and children of all ages. She consults weekly to the Lighthouse School, a therapeutic school in Chelmsford, MA that serves students from across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Dr. Hoffman works with public school districts throughout the state providing as needed psychiatric assessments and risk evaluations

Before opening her practice, Dr. Hoffman worked at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, where she served in the 3 East Intensive Residential Program, part of McLean’s DBT continuum of care. She was also part of the psychiatry team at the McLean Anxiety Mastery Program (MAMP), and provided consultation to school-based mental health staff in Burlington and Andover. Earlier in her career, she worked at Hasbro Hospital’s inpatient medical psychiatric unit for children. She founded a trauma treatment program at Tufts Medical Center, where she also taught and trained medical students and residents. She also directed the Tufts branch of the Massachusetts Child Psychiatry Access Project (MCPAP).

Dr. Hoffman has practiced medicine in developing countries and underserved settings, experiences that deepened her appreciation for cross-cultural psychiatry. She values working with people from all walks of life and finds inspiration in the diverse perspectives her patients bring.

She is certified in Prolonged Exposure, an evidence-based trauma treatment, and has extensive training in DBT-informed care. Her primary therapeutic approach is psychodynamic psychotherapy, which she practices in a trauma-informed and skills-based way. Dr. Hoffman believes medications are most effective when used in combination with psychotherapy. Her holistic treatment approach considers the social, psychological, and physical factors that affect each person’s mental health.

Above all, Dr. Hoffman strives to create a warm, trusting, and collaborative relationship with every patient. She blends compassion, honesty, and humor in her work, with the goal of providing patient centered, individualized care that supports healing and growth.
